Runners Christmas Gift List

The Running Show took place a couple of weekends ago with lots of stands with attractive offers on running gear, tech and flashy shoes. It took every ounce of my willpower not to buy lots of new things!

But if you are looking for a gift for that special runner in your life this Christmas, or just fancy treating yourself to a little present, here are some of my suggestions…

*these are all things that I own/have tried, apart from the Mo Farah book- that’s still on my wishlist! 🙂

Something you want

Garmin Forerunner 10 £99.99 – I love my FR10, it’s basic enough to use it all the time without difficulty setting things up, but has loads of extra features such as Run/Walk, Virtual Pacer and the ability to use it on your bike as well.
Yurbuds Inspire for Women £24.99 – When they say these headphones never fall out, they really never do! Amazing. They allow you to hear ambient noise around you and come in a variety of awesome colours – what more could you want!

Something you need

Gu Chomps £3.40 per pack (but can get offers on larger boxes)- Every fitness junkie needs to fuel their workout, and these chews deliver carbs, electrolytes and other vital ingredients to keep you powered up whilst on the run. Plus they taste like little sweets!
Trigger Point Grid Foam Roller £35 – Foam rolling is a form of self-massage which helps to prevent/recover from injury by working out knots/tightness in your muscles, and increases the blood flow so you recover from workouts quicker. I have a smooth foam roller, but tried this one at Crossfit and it really gets into the knots in your legs- painful but effective!

Something to wear

Ronhill Ladies Vizion Photon Jacket £85 – Super reflective, lightweight and breathable with an integrated LED light system to make sure you stay safe on your runs on these dark winter evenings.
Zensah Compression Calf Sleeves £31.99 – These can be worn either during training or for recovery purposes, to increase oxygen blood flow to the muscles in your legs. I found mine were particularly helpful for shin splints when I first started running!

Something to read

Mo Farah autobiography £9.93 – Who wouldn’t want to read about the “greatest male distance runner that Britain has ever seen” – inspirational!
Subscription to Runner’s World £24 for 12 issues –  I got a subscription to Runner’s World for Christmas last year and have loved reading the articles, product reviews, picking up tips from their training plans and having new races catch my eye – I’d definitely reccommend this publication to any runner!

Are any of my suggestions on your Christmas wish-list? What must-have item have I missed?
