Weekly Workout Recap : Isle of Wight

Monday – Walking
Tuesday – Walking
Wednesday – Walking
Thursday – Walking
Friday – Cycling 34miles
Saturday Yoga for Runners and Cyclists 3-5pm (recap to follow…)
Sunday – REST

Last week Mark and I were camping in the Isle of Wight so my workouts mainly consisted of lots of walking, and a pretty epic bike ride on the last day! The weather was a bit wet and windy, with some intermittent sunshine, or we would have done some more cycling. However, I think Friday’s ride more than made up for it, and my legs definitely appreciated the yoga stretching on Saturday afternoon!

Monday we walked along the cliff to the Needles, trying not to get blown away 🙂

Tuesday we walked around the Owl and Monkey Haven just outside Newport…

Wednesday we drove along the southern coast of the island and stopped off at Blackgang, Ventnor and Shanklin for short walks

Thursday we walked around Bembridge and Godshill (it was quite wet so no photos today…)

Friday it was beautiful sunshine (typical seeing as it was our last day!) so we jumped on our bikes and cycled from our campsite in Freshwater to Cowes – where we ate crab sandwiches sitting by the harbour – and back. A round trip of 34miles, the longest I’ve cycled to date- my bum definitely felt it by the end, especially considering the state of the roads on the Isle of Wight! It was a gorgeous ride though, mostly country lanes with little traffic and lovely views. I’m a bit sad I didn’t get any photos, but I didn’t carry my camera as we were travelling light, and my phone had died.

Here’s a picture of our bikes in the garden at home though…

What have you been up to this week? Are holidays recovery sessions for you, or the chance to pack in workouts in a new environment and explore new places? I think a balance of both is probably best 🙂

Beki x

PS. Yes, Mark takes amazing photos – thank you for letting me use them on my blog.
