GetOutside Day 2019: Will You Go Out With Me?

National GetOutside Day this year is back on Sunday 29th September, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved!

This year the day centres around asking someone to go out with you, to explore the outdoors and experience how good it feels to be outside. Whether it’s a picnic, walk, bike ride or climbing a hill, anything goes! It’s all about getting people moving and having some fun.

Last year, we were at Woburn Centerparcs so had a pretty activity-packed weekend with archery, kayaking, woodland walks and more!

This year, I will be supporting those getting active at the Hemel Hempstead Triathlon. James is taking part in a relay team, and so I will be there with E cheering on all the participants. Originally I planned to try and race myself, but the logistics of doing so without E being left alone, as well as the fact that I haven’t really done any swimming this year (unless you count a few lengths at Champneys Spa!) meant that being ‘cheer squad’ seemed the more sensible option.

We will however be outside, and I will probably try and walk the couple of miles to and from the leisure centre where the event is taking place so I can get a little #GetOutsideDay adventure in as well.

If you’re looking for inspiration for your GetOutside Day activities, here’s how to get involved:

  1. Invite family and friends out with you
  2. Join your regional Facebook group for ideas to start planning a great day outside
  3. Download the OS Maps app and get your FREE 1-month subscription with the code GETOUTSIDEDAY, plus exclusive offers
  4. Enjoy! It would be great to see what you get up to, so tag your activity on the day on social media using #GetOutsideDay
Make it a date and invite your family and friends to GetOutside with you!
