I booked my flights to Australia today! I’m so excited 🙂

Mark is working offshore out there at the moment and I have been intending to go out and have a holiday with him after the job has finished. Due to the nature of the job though it’s been so hard to predict exactly when that will be!

However, today after much talking and taking all the information we have into account I finally booked my flights! I’m leaving on the 24th June for 3 weeks holiday in the sunshine, really looking forward to it! Mark will join me in Cairns when the job is finished which will hopefully roughly coincide with me arriving.

I’m hoping to keep blogging about our adventures whilst we’re out there, but I’m not sure how regularly that will be. I will have to try and find places with Wi-fi and make sure to keep a note of all the things we do. I’m definitely going to be taking loads of photos! I’ve bought an extra 8gb memory card in preparation, and bought the PEN camera wrap case for carrying my camera around safely.

Any tips for blogging on the move or whilst travelling?

The journey to Australia will be long, but I’m quite excited to go to Singapore which is my stop-off on the way. It sounds like an amazing airport with so many things to keep you entertained! If you have a layover which is longer than 5 hours then you can even go on a free 2 hour guided tour of Singapore to see a bit of the city whilst you’re there. I’m totally planning on doing that! There’s also a gym with showers, and a swimming pool. It will be really nice to get a bit of exercise and move after sitting still for so long on the plane, and chilling out in the pool sounds the perfect way to relax en-route.

Any tips for places to visit whilst we’re in Australia or good hotels to stay in?

We’re planning on doing a trip down the East Coast from Cairns to Brisbane and then a few days in Sydney.  I’ve been to that area before but would like to travel with a bit more luxury this time, rather than backpacker hostels and student prices! Although there’s nothing wrong with a good bargain 🙂 Perhaps just a few decent restaurants for yummy meals together would be nice.

Anyway, back to today…

Fitness
Monday– Body Attack 1hr 362kcal
Tuesday– Run 3.03km 22:16mins 7:20min/km av pace

I explored a new route on this run today…

Cary’s Meadow- a nearby nature reserve

It was nice to run on a trail for a change even if the area itself wasn’t very big. There were a few paths leading off in various directions which I shall explore in the future!

Food
A few of the things I’ve eaten recently…

Couscous salads for my work packed lunch- a change from the usual sandwiches! I usually throw in tuna or boiled eggs, then leaves, maybe frozen peas/sweetcorn/edamame and some seasoning- yum 🙂

Yoghurt and strawberry parfait- I like to crumble a Weetabix in it too for a bit of crunch!
Breakfast scramble- sliced new potatoes, spinach, cherry tomatoes and egg, with a slice of wholemeal toast

Let me know any holiday tips you have for packing light, comfortable travel clothes or healthy eating options in airports! Are you going on any fun holidays soon?
