Meridian Foods: Nut Butter Recipes

I love nut butters!

All nuts and seeds are great sources of protein and energy, and although they contain oils and fats these are unsaturated heart-healthy fats with a whole list of benefits.

Meridian Foods were kind enough to send me some to try – I’m a big fan of their brand! Their products don’t use palm oil, and most of them are 100% pure nuts (some have a pinch of sea salt).

Almonds
Almonds are high in fibre, and natural Vitamin E which helps boost the immune system. They’re a good source of magnesium, and are high in calcium and phosphorous, which are great for maintaining healthy bones and teeth.

Cashews

Cashews are technically the seed of the cashew apple. They’re rich in a number of trace minerals including iron (vital for the production  of red blood cells), copper (important for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels), magnesium (for cardiovascular health) and tryptophan – which is important for healthy sleep! They also contain good levels of zinc which helps manage hormones.

Peanuts
Peanuts are actually a legume not a nut! They’re high in protein, and contain vital essential minerals including magnesium, zinc for hormone production, iodine and selenium for thyroid function, and manganese which reduces anxiety.
