After the London Duathlon I’m tapering off a little to give my legs a chance for a break! Plus I’m also arranging physio to finally deal with the knee niggles I’ve been struggling with for the past few months. They’ve never been serious enough to stop me running or working out, more annoying really, so fingers crossed I can get rid of the problem for good!

Last week I went to Crossfit as usual, as well as my Pilates class which I’m hoping will become a regular occurrence.

Crossing the bridge at Teddington to Richmond Park

Then on Sunday Mark and I took advantage of the nice weather to go cycling to Richmond Park. It took about an hour to get there, and then we did a lap and cycled back.

I was glad of the opportunity to cycle in the park in nice weather, after the torrential wind and rain of the duathlon, as it’s such a gorgeous place! Lots of deer and other cyclists were enjoying the sunshine, and I really enjoyed myself.

There’s a group on Bikeradar who race against themselves and each other in the Richmond Park 3 Lap Challenge. The current top time is 45:14!! That’s ridiculously quick. The laps are anticlockwise which is the opposite direction to the duathlon, so I was interested to see how the course varied. You avoid having to go up the steepest hill, although there are still a couple of big inclines. I managed it in 28:49 and was pretty happy with that, especially since I was trying my hardest not to brake downhill (I’m such a wuss) and got a max speed of 21mph!

Hey Lexa 🙂

I recently bought the bike mount for my Garmin Forerunner 10 so I could attach it to my handlebars and use it like I would when running. It was pretty useful to see my speed when cycling along (just change the format to speed rather than pace), and then be able to upload my stats to my computer when I got home as well (as a bike ride rather than a run). It makes me love my watch even more! It may not be the most complicated one out there, but it’s so cool that it still has such wide functionality.

Now I’ve just got to work on those 3 laps…

What piece of kit couldn’t you live without?
