My First 5K- Race for Life

I am due to complete the Couch to 5k program at the end of September and I’ve been looking for a race to enter as something to aim for.

I’ve since signed up for the Race for Life Twilight 5k in Norwich on Fri 5th October. I’ve always believed that the “Race for Life” races that happen every year are great events, and while I missed the summer daytime 5k this year I was thrilled to discover that there was an evening race occurring at just the perfect time!

Cancer Research UK is a brilliant and worthwhile charity so I’m really happy to combine achieving my goal with helping out other people too. I’m totally looking forward to running with hundreds of other enthusiasts as well, and getting dressed up in my pink t-shirt and wearing glow sticks!! Exciting! 🙂

Like Race for Life, the evening promises to have a fabulous atmosphere, bringing the power of sisterhood and a sense of unity, but this time on a lit-up course under twilight. Participants are also encouraged to help create the enchanting twilight experience by bringing fairy lights, glow sticks and any sparkly accessories as they walk, jog or run 5k.

Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

Taking up running has made a big difference to me, and I hope that this is only the beginning…If you are free on the 5th October please feel free to join me! 🙂
