Spark & Gusto subscription box

I love a parcel. Getting an exciting delivery in the post can be the best part of my day, and receiving a health and fitness subscription box from Spark & Gusto was no exception!

These guys know that we all need a little help sometimes keeping ourselves motivated to live a healthy active lifestyle, and that having some fun new accessories and snacks can offer an incentive to get back out there.

Each month they will send you a packed with products to help you be healthier, and plan a few new adventures! You can also buy single one off boxes, perhaps if you fancied trying it out before committing to a membership, or as a gift for someone. And they offer themed boxes too, with a Running one brought out just in time for the London Marathon.

On opening the box, I was initially impressed by the number of products included, and the selection of brands as well –   from Nuun to High 5, LoveRaw and BetterYou.

Chia flapjack

  • Chia Charge Banana Flapjack – I took this along to Run Hackney on Sunday where I was working, and it helped me going while I was dashing about. I love a good flapjack as oats are brilliant for slow release energy, and with chia seeds as well it keeps you full for even longer. I couldn’t really taste the banana in this – it was more like fruitcake and seriously tasty!
  • High5 Run Bottle and High5 Energy Gels – I love High5 electrolyte tabs for staying hydrated on my run or bike ride, so the bottle is perfect for putting my drink in whilst out and about and I’m excited to try the gels too.
  • Reaction Ball – The idea of this ball is to bounce it yourself, or to a partner, and test your agility and footwork. As the ball is a funny shape it doesn’t bounce straight and makes for quite a challenge!
  • Ronhill Stretch Arm Pocket – I can imagine this would be perfect for carrying an oyster card and some cash, so you can treat yourself to an ice cream after a long run. Or at least that’s what I’d do…
  • BetterYou Magnesium Foot Soak – I was going to put this in to the bath and soak my whole body, rather than just my feet but it’s been way too hot for baths! Magnesium is fantastic for muscle recovery however, and I know that this is going to be super relaxing when I do give it a go.
  • Sport Beans – Like jelly beans, but specifically designed to keep you energised on your run I will definitely be trying these out once I start training for the Great North Run.
  • LoveRaw Cacao & Maca Organic Bar – Maca is the latest superfood which is supposed to offer you an energy (and libido) boost, and when combined with chocolate made for a pretty tasty snack – a bit like a more crumbly version of a nakd bar!
  • Tapped Birch Water – the only product in the box I didn’t love, but then I really am not a fan of birch water. It’s rather an acquired taste like coconut water, and definitely not for me!

As with all these things, each month will be hit and miss as to whether you love the products, but I really liked Spark & Gusto and apart from the birch water I would definitely eat/use everything in the box. It is more expensive than other subscription boxes I’ve tried (check out my review of Joggbox here) at £25 plus £4.50 p&p, but will always contain at least ten products and the brands are top of the range.

Have you tried a fitness subscription box?
