2020: Love is in the air

Okay so we’re nearly four weeks into 2020 now, but I feel like I’ve finally got time to sit down and reflect on the last twelve months, and think about what I want to achieve this year.

2019 was a turbulent year, and it ended up being particularly challenging in a lot of ways. I mentioned a few of them in this blog post that I wrote back at the end of August, and although some of those things have resolved themselves (I sold my flat!), I’m still trying to find that blog/life balance and figure out where I fit in the world of ‘social influencers’.

However, my 2019 definitely ended on a high when James and I got engaged on 1st December! We had gone out for a dog walk in the woods, and I turned the corner to fairy lights in the trees and a totally perfect outdoor proposal. It made the last month of the year a whirlwind of smiles and celebrations, and we had a really fun Christmas telling all our family and friends.

We are getting married in August this year (yup, 2020) so this has meant January has been pretty hectic – making numerous lists and having lots of wedding-related conversations with everyone. It’s really exciting and I am looking forward to marrying the man who has been by my side through so many outdoor adventures – I’m sure there will be many more to come!

2020 is a year of LOVE.

A year of romance, ‘I dos’ and honeymoons but alongside all the chat about dresses, flowers and cake, I want to make sure we still pursue the activities that we both love too. And go out there with the goal of loving the experience while we’re doing it as well! This means choosing to run when and for as long as I feel like, walking for headspace or companionship, and getting out on the bike in the sunshine to feel the wind in my face.

I actually bought a Brompton at the end of November with the intention of cycling to work at least one or two days a week as the weather warms up. I have only ridden back and forth a couple of times so far, but that’s OK. This is a long term goal and I want to enjoy the experience – cycling over Waterloo Bridge watching the sunrise/sunset has been pretty special, even if it is freezing!

2020 Activities

  • Take part in at least one new cycling event
  • Visit the Lake District again
  • Go on another glamping holiday
  • Commute to work on my Brompton twenty times in 2020!

In terms of blogging, I will write when I have something I’d love to share and only follow those people on social media whose content I love and who make me feel inspired or educated. I actually really enjoy learning new things and would much rather feel that my time online is worthwhile, in terms of passing on/gaining knowledge and sharing experiences.

What will you do in 2020 that you LOVE?

Beki x
