Life Changes [and a haircut with RUSH]

If you follow me on social media you may have seen that I joined the team at Human Race on Monday! Although I was sad to leave the lovely ladies at Action PR, I’m super excited about my new role with this fabulous events company – having run the London Winter Run 10k for the last few years, I know that they put on great races. I will be working as part of the Marketing Team for their Cycling and Triathlon events, and have already hit the ground running planning for my first press day tomorrow! [For the Chiltern Cycling Festival in July – check it out if you’re in the area]

I had one day off in between jobs so headed over to Wimbledon for a little pampering at the new RUSH hair and beauty salon in Wimbledon Village. I was definitely due for a haircut, and this seemed like the perfect time so I would look smart and polished for my first day at Human Race!

The RUSH Wimbledon Village location is a brand new modern salon that has a chic, boutique style to it. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking going to get your hair cut somewhere different, but I was immediately made to feel comfortable. After being offered complimentary refreshments – I opted for a glass of Prosecco, which came with chocolates and nibbles  – the lovely Terri chatted to me about what I was looking for. She then washed my hair herself, complete with a relaxing head massage, in their spa area.

I really loved the attention to the customer that was provided throughout the hour that I was there. Terri talked to me a fair bit, (but not constantly!) and made sure to keep me updated with the work she was doing to my hair, including her recommendations on what would look good, and the products she was using. She even took me through how to style it with ghd tongs at the end – I would never normally take the time to blow-dry and curl my hair, so it was really lovely to have someone focus their attention on making me look fabulous!

I came out of the salon feeling super positive and confident about smashing my first day at my new job! I’m a bit of a worrier and have the tendency to over-think things, so was feeling rather nervous about taking on a new role. There’s always that voice in my head that thinks someone will turn around and ask “why did we hire you again?”! Fortunately, my first few days have gone really well – the team are lovely and friendly and welcoming, and I’m feeling really excited and optimistic about the prospects for progression and learning.

They even have a team sports club on a Wednesday – today is Spinning, next week is Yoga – which is lovely for getting to know people, and great to have provided, considering that the office is based in Chessington so a little less well serviced by boutique fitness studios than I was in London!

As for RUSH, they have salons up and down the country, and a range of fantastic offers including 50% off Colour on selected days, and a Recommend a Friend loyalty discount so I definitely recommend you check out their website.

What are your tips for starting a new job? Do you love getting a haircut?

NB: I was given a complimentary haircut at RUSH but as always all opinions are my own.
