Ealing Half Marathon: Race Outfit and Packing List

Before the Windsor Trail Half Marathon I did a run-through of my race day outfit– while many aspects of my Ealing attire will be similar, there are a few changes, so I thought I’d give you a quick look!


Half Marathon Outfit

Brooks Infiniti Capri– I mentioned these in my It’s All in the Detail: Workout Clothing blog postΒ and they’re still my favourite leggings to run in.

The wide waistband with drawstring means they don’t fall down or chafe, and they have a handy pocket for gels on the back.

I will be wearing my trusted Shock Absorber Run bra underneath with my awesome Team Naturally Run vest over the top.

I love the bright colour and lightweight feel, and I know that if I start to struggle just looking down at my top will remind me of all the awesome friends I’ve made through this fantastic running community. We also wore these vests to race the Spitfire Scramble, and that feeling of strength and pride at completing 3 laps, and great memories will help to boost me with positive thoughts.

I will be running in my Brooks Ravenna 5s- check out my review as a Brooks Blogger– with SOLE Softec Response Footbeds inside, and SOLE socks too!


Half Marathon Race Day Packing List

Half Marathon Race Day Packing List

For the race:
Race bib, timing chip and baggage tag
TomTom Runner Cardio watch
SpibeltΒ (for my phone)
– Moto G phone for:

– Purple YurbudsAs usual runners are discouraged from wearing headphones to ensure you can hear the marshalls. The atmosphere of Ealing is supposed to be pretty good with live music and good crowd support, so I will see how it goes…
Salted caramel Gu gels x2- to take at 1 hour and 2 hours
– Handheld water bottle with High 5 Zero Citrus tabs
– Sunglasses (just in case!)
– Tissues

Post race:
– Snack (probably a banana and a nakd bar)
– Change of clothes- just a fresh shirt and flip flops for achey feet!
– Jumper/warm top for the train ride home
– Plasters (in case of blisters)
– Ibuprofen/Ibuleve gel
Compression socks/sleeves

    You are so organised! I'm totally going to swing it – will pack sometime Saturday night πŸ™‚ I've been on very little carbs for 2 weeks (only sweet potatoes and fruit and veg for carbs), I'm quite curious to see if that makes a half marathon easier or harder.

    Those leggings look fab- I always look for ones with pockets.
    Can I ask you about your spibelt? I had one for my old phone, (a blackberry) but I got a new phone- Moto g, and it would not fit. So I bought the larger size belt, but the belt is too large, and so the phone twists around and ends up banging against my back instead of being held flat against it- so I wondered what size belt you had? Thanks.

    I have this one: which fits my phone fine as well as any gels or oyster card etc. Its pretty stretchy, and I've never had any problems with it bouncing around, but the strap is adjustable if you need to tighten it. Beki πŸ™‚

    Super organised Beki! I am totally using this for reference when I pack for my half in Birmingham! I also have the Brooks tights – they are awesome, I bang on about them to anyone who will listen, just the right weight and support and I love the grips around the seams!

    Good luck Beki! I'm a big fan of listening to audio books while I run – particularly when I was training for my half marathon – as boredom is a big issue for me when I'm running! Hope you have a great race πŸ™‚ xxx

    Thanks so much! I think I originally had the small one, and then ordered the large from wiggle which is too big- the phone ends up sideways in the pocket so it bangs about. Perhaps I need the medium!
