Half Marathon Outfit

The big weekend is finally here!

After months of training, I am about to run my first ever Half Marathon – eeeek! I’m actually pretty excited 🙂

The race is on Sunday, and I am sure I’ll be a bundle of nerves by the time I reach that start line! I’ve been struggling a little with a hip injury since getting back from Geneva, and have only run a couple of times since then, with the emphasis on RICE-ing, sports massages, yoga and generally not making myself panic! My longest run in training was 10miles, but the hip is feeling a lot better now, and fingers crossed the adrenalin and excitement will help to carry me those last few miles on race day 🙂

Here’s a quick run-down of what I’ll be wearing when I line up alongside my brothers (and several hundred other people) in Windsor this weekend:

Clothing

Nike 8in Filament Shorts
A fairly recent purchase after I decided it was too hot to run in capris. I did have a pair of looser shorts but found that they chafe on long runs!

These are super comfortable, a respectable length and have a handy pocket on the back. Shame the flashes are pink instead of blue to match the rest of my outfit, haha…

Shock Absorber Run Bra
The only running bra I own, a necessary staple.

Lululemon Elevate Tank
An indulgent purchase for the half marathon, this top is beautiful and so soft. It’s lovely to run in and I adore the colour – very summery 🙂

My brothers and I also all decided to wear blue tops, so hopefully we’re easy to spot for our supporters!

Brooks Ravenna 4 running shoes
I’ve had these for just over a year now, although my low mileage means they’re still in great condition and I wouldn’t run in anything else. They’re what Brooks term a “Guidance” shoe, for mild overpronation, with the perfect balance of cushioning and stability.

SOLE Softec Response Footbeds
I wear these insoles in my running shoes for a bit of extra support- check out my review here.

SOLE Socks
Another gift from SOLE, these are awesome socks and what I always reach for when running! I never have any problems with blisters or super sweaty feet- blog review here.

Accessories

Garmin FR10

A Christmas present from a couple of years ago that I love and have used incessantly since- it will be a good test of the battery to see if it lasts for the whole half marathon! 🙂 I’m not aiming for any particular time, and probably won’t look at the watch much, except to make sure I don’t go off too fast!

Spibelt
I love this belt, it’s super stretchy, comfortable and doesn’t bounce. I will be use it for carrying gels (Salted Caramel Gu!), and my phone round the course.

Yurbuds Inspire for Women in purple
Just in case the conversation with my brothers isn’t motivating enough (!), I have my trusty Yurbuds to pump up the tunes. These headphones are so comfortable, and their Twistlock technology means they never fall out! They also don’t completely block surrounding noise, which is great from a safety aspect when running.

Moto G with Spotify offline
And my phone with Spotify offline (paid for) so I can plug into my Half Marathon playlist when the going gets tough!

The final outfit

Thank you so much to everybody for all your support!

Hopefully I’ll be back next week with a successful race recap! And I’m sure I’ll be tweeting and instagramming like nobodies business in between 🙂

To everyone else racing this weekend- good luck!

Beki x
