After last week’s failed attempt at running to work, I decided to give it another go, but opted to run home instead. I’m glad I did it! But I’m not sure that it’s something I would do again- at least not with so much stuff, or in the pouring rain!

My backpack was way too full which made running awkward so my legs started hurting because my running form was terrible, and I had to hold the straps to stop it bouncing up and down so my arms got stiff too. Plus I didn’t really know where I was going so had to stop and check Google Maps several times on my phone, in the rain, which I’m sure wasn’t good for it!

As I say, I’m glad I gave it a go, and perhaps I will again in the summer when it’s sunny (we can hope!) and just leave all my stuff at work.

I had a much more successful run on Thursday where I just zoned out and listened to a new audiobook on my phone- that’s the longest I’ve ever run and I was so chuffed! 4 miles! Woo! 🙂

This weekend I was pretty busy visiting my family and then heading to the Vitality Show at Earl’s Court in London on Sunday, so I didn’t stick to my usual weekend exercise schedule. But it’s good to mix it up sometimes so you don’t get bored! 🙂

I managed to fit in some strength training on Friday evening using the Nike Training Club app (this is awesome!) and the weights we have at home, and then I attended a free Dynamic Hatha Yoga class at the Vitality Show on Sunday. (The show was great by the way, and I’ll do a recap post in the next couple of days!)

I’ve never done yoga before although I did attend Body Balance for a few months when I was in Australia, which incorporates Yoga, Thai Chi and Pilates so I was familiar with some of the moves. I’ve always found it a little hard to relax and get into the whole “controlled breathing/relax your mind etc” but this was actually really enjoyable and I felt great afterwards – especially after a stressful train journey to get there! I will definitely be looking to try and incorporate some yoga into my regular exercise schedule so if anyone has any recommendations for good places in London let me know! 🙂
