…and Sister

My sister is staying this week so we’re taking the opportunity to try out some of the local cafes and restaurants in my new neighbourhood. The weather is unfortunately awful- grey and rainy- but we braved the cold to sample lunch at Harleys Cafe. This lovely little coffee shop is directly opposite the river so we were able to enjoy the view from the warmth!

I am looking forward to strolling along the riverbank when the weather is a little sunnier though. It’s a shame there is no way of crossing over, as literally the other side of the river and the railway line is Whitlingham Country Park– a great place to walk, cycle, run or have a picnic. There’s a footpath around the Great Broad (approx. 3 miles) which I’m hoping to use as a running route and gradually increase the number of laps as I get fitter! There’s also Norwich Rowing Club and the Outdoor Education Centre located there, where you can learn to sail, kayak, canoe, windsurf etc so it’s a pretty popular spot in the summer. Mark and I went there a few weeks ago when the weather was a little more clement, and had a lovely walk and picnic 🙂

Ryvita with cheese, ham and apple- great combination!

So back to today, and Pippa and I had a lovely lunch at Harleys. It’s a quirky little place with retro signs, an ice cream bar and plenty of newspapers and magazines to read. They were playing Absolute 80s Radio too which is a definite plus point in my book! 🙂

I had a jacket potato with prawn marie rose and side salad- yum! And Pippa had a tuna mayo toastie. Cappuccino and hot chocolate to drink. And only 3minutes walk down the road- I can see this becoming a favourite hangout spot 🙂
