Mixing up my training with Fitness First

I will admit I’ve got stuck in a bit of a rut with my training since my membership at MyPT Studio ended. I’ve been running and cycling, maybe once or twice a week each. I know that this isn’t really enough for the goals I have in mind for the remainder of 2017, but I’m also struggling with the financial side of fitness – classes in London are expensive!

However, when I was invited along to test out the new spin studio and functional training zone at Fitness First Fenchurch Street it soon became apparent that I need to add some high intensity training back into my schedule pretty sharpish.

Fitness First Spinning

I love spinning, it’s one of my favourite classes, but I’m quite picky when it comes to knowing what I like – my biggest pet peeve is instructors who don’t cycle to the beat or use the music at all in their choreography! A high energy atmosphere, great playlist and motivational instructor is also key, as are cycling shoes – they make such a difference to your performance.

I start my new job on 24th April, so have been along to a few BOOM Cycle classes in recent weeks as I know I won’t be able to go once I move. My new office is in Chessington – yes, where Chessington World of Adventures is – so if you know of any good indoor cycling studios in the area let me know!

Fitness First Spinning

Likewise for functional training gyms – I miss my circuits, kettlebells and weights that I was doing regularly at MyPT Studio. The bear crawls, box jumps and burpees that we did at Fitness First Fenchurch Street felt pretty challenging having been mainly doing slow, steady state cardio recently. I need to perhaps look into getting some kettlebells for training at home, so I can do my own outdoor workouts with the nice summer weather coming up (fingers crossed!).

Get The Label

I’ve been wearing my new Adidas Pure Boosts and using this Under Armour bag from Get The Label for most of my gym classes. I love the range of discount fitness kit on their website, and am a huge fan of the Pure Boosts for walking to/from work or Spinning – they don’t have enough support for me to run in them, but the foam and the all-in-one upper feels like you’re wearing super comfy slippers, and the pattern is awesome! The bag is fab for carrying all my gym stuff too – I definitely recommend checking out the site if you’re looking for budget gym-wear.

How do you mix things up with your workouts?

NB: I was invited to an event at Fitness First Fenchurch Street, but was not paid to write about the experience. Likewise I was sent the items from Get The Label to review, but as always all opinions are my own.
