Why Sports Bras are Important

44% of women don’t wear a sports bra when working out.

Did you know that your boobs can move up to 14cm without any support?! That’s a little scary.

What’s even more worrying is that of those who do wear a sports bra, eight out of ten are wearing the wrong size!

Seriously ladies.

Top Three Top Reasons to wear a Sports Bra while exercising:

  1. The Coopers ligament keeps your breasts “uplifted” and without support it can be damaged causing irreversible sagging, as well as pain and discomfort.
  2. A good sports bra can stop your breasts moving by up to 83% which means less pain and more gain from your gym session! Sports bras are also made from sweat-wicking material to reduce chafing and keep you comfortable whilst training.
  3. Women with larger breasts can suffer with strain to the upper back and shoulders, which can be alleviated by wearing a well-designed, supportive sports bra. Look for High Impact options for maximum support.

I have always been a Shock Absorber gal, and swear by the Run Bra having several in various different colours (tune in next week for the chance to win a Shock Absorber bra in my Christmas Fitness Gift Guide competition).

However, it is quite a full coverage bra, that offers a pretty “locked in” feel, so I was curious to try the Anita Air Control bra from boobydoo which boasts the claim of the “lightest sports bra in the world”.

It’s made of a breathable, mesh fabric with one wide strap across the back that is designed to keep you under control during the most high impact of activities, but feel so comfortable that you’ll forget you’re actually wearing a sports bra!

I must admit, it pretty much lived up to its claim. I wore it all day on Tuesday with Run Club in the evening, and never once felt restricted or uncomfortable while sitting at my desk. But I still went running, without worrying about er..bouncing around. Even though there’s only one strap and clasp, the additional side support seems to make a big difference.

I love the shape as well, which is more feminine perhaps than the Shock Absorber design with the pre-shaped cups and hot pink details.

Having never come across the brand before I will definitely be checking out their other bras, which come in a range of impact options for all sizes, as well as some gorgeous colours!

If you’re not sure what size you need, then boobydoo have a handy calculator on their website as well as fitting tips, or head to a store for advice.

NB: I was sent the bra to review, but all opinions are my own and I firmly believe that everyone should wear a sports bra for exercising.
